2025 Château Haut-Batailley, Pauillac

First impressions of this wine are very promising. There is lift and precision in the bouquet, without even a hint of stress or heat from the vintage. Haut-Batailley is often more St Julien than Pauillac in style, given the southerly location of its vineyards. The 2025 is comfortable on the palate, with a lovely tension between the vintage’s freshness and tannins. There is a fine Pauillac grip on the finish but no let-up in intensity from start to finish.
